Your lunch and coffee may be costing you
Portfolio.com published an interesting article on working professionals and where they think they’re money is going. Many people surveyed thought they spent the most on commuting to work, but they were in for a surprise. Lots of professionals wine and dine clients on their company’s dime, but when you’re not with a client, you probably go out to lunch. And why wouldn’t you? It’s more convenient; you can catch some fresh air, and order your favorite meal from your favorite restaurant. Well, be careful, because eating your lunch adds up! Workonomix Survey from Accounting Principals found employees spent $3,000 a year on coffee and lunch.
You might think more senior employees (or older individuals) spend more than the younger population, but in fact, professionals between 18 and 34 spend almost TWICE as much on coffee than those 45 and up. Is the younger population conditioned to rely on caffeine more or have they forgotten the value of a dollar?
Before you head out the door to go to work, you might want to go pack a sandwich…you could save BIG!
