Fun Facts: New Year’s Resolutions
In honor of New Year’s coming up, we thought it would be fun to give you some fun facts about New Year’s resolutions.
According to about.com, the top resolution is to spend more time with your family. Following behind that is the desire to exercise more and tame the bulge.
Unfortunately, while most resolve to lose weight and get fit, this is also the number one broken resolution. Time.com reported that 60% of gym memberships go unused, and gym attendance starts to break back down around mid-February.
One study found that persistence is the key to keeping a resolution. While only 40% kept their number one resolution on the first try, the rest had to keep at it and 17% finally kept their goal after six attempts. So, if at first you don’t succeed—try, try again!
Women are more successful when they told their friends about their resolutions. Men are more successful when they set S.M.A.R.T goals (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time based).
What is your New Year’s resolution this year? And how do you plan on sticking to it?
